Mr. Shankar Mugalkhod was born and raised in Kamathipura, Mumbai’s notorious red-light district. Growing up in that neighbourhood, he was a daily witness to poverty and destitution from close quarters.

Initially, he started working with the local NGOs. Then, he began independently operating ambulances and getting involved in food and medical aid distribution. Eventually, Grace Foundation was officially registered as an NGO/Public Trust in May, 2017.

What is Destitution and what we do?

Destitution is a state of extreme poverty, so severe that one lacks the means to provide for oneself. Without any support and care the person goes into a poor health and mental condition and are often found helpless, sick or dying on the road. Grace Foundation is working towards giving such people- Hope for life, by providing them with shelter, food, and health care.

We also sponsor vocational training to help the destitute to live with dignity and earn a livelihood.

Our Objective

To rescue maximum number of Destitute and to provide free shelter, food and medical & psychiatric treatment to the rescued ones.

To trace out addresses of the destitute and reunite them with their families.
